SUMMARY:NJBPU Virtual Stakeholder Meeting - Fourth OSW Solicitation
DESCRIPTION:STAKEHOLDER MEETING \nDATE: March 20\, 2024 \nTIME: 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time \nLOCATION: Zoom Virtual Webinar \nREGISTER (you must register by March 17): https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_x2XnuGEgQLyQOkSvLCelvA \n  \nSolicitation sought a desired OSW capacity target of 1\,200 MW to 4\,000 MW. By two (2) Board Orders\, each dated January 24\, 2024\, the Board awarded two (2) of New Jersey’s largest OSW\nprojects to date\, the 1\,342 MW Attentive Energy Two project and the 2\,400 MW Leading Light Wind project. The Board awarded these projects the full SAA capability of the Larrabee Tri-Collector solution. \nOn October 25\, 2023\, the Board rejected the Prebuild Infrastructure (“PBI”) proposals that were submitted as part of the Third Solicitation\, finding that the PBI being awarded to a developer who also receives an award as a Qualified Offshore Wind Project represented an unreasonable risk to New Jersey ratepayers and directed Board staff to develop a separate PBI solicitation. \nOn November 17\, 2023\, the Board issued a PBI Solicitation and the Prebuild Solicitation Guidance Document in which it “explained that the Prebuild envisioned a single construction effort to install the necessary Duct Banks and associated access Cable Vaults to house transmission Conduits for future use of up to four (4) OSW Qualified Projects\, thereby enabling these projects\nto access the wholesale transmission system.” Any project awarded through the PBI Solicitation will be submitted to PJM for incorporation into PJM’s regional transmission expansion plan\n(“RTEP”)\, and will also be submitted for cost recovery through the cost allocation provisions for Public Policy Projects\, approved by FERC. The Prebuild Solicitation Application Submission\nDeadline is April 3\, 2024\, and an award is expected in Q3 2024. \nThe stakeholder meeting for the Fourth Solicitation will be held at the following date and time\, and in the following manner:\nPlease note that the meeting will be conducted virtually. You must register before attending \nthe meeting at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled date. Stakeholders and members of the public may participate after registering by utilizing the link or dial-in information set forth above\nand may express their views. In order to encourage full participation\, please submit any requests for needed accommodations\, such as interpreters and/or listening assistance\, at least\n48 hours prior to the above meeting date to the Secretary of the Board at board.secretary@bpu.nj.gov. \nIf you wish to reserve a speaking opportunity\, please designate this during the online registration process. After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting and information about checking your system requirements in advance of the meeting. Please check your access devices in advance of the meeting to ensure that they will properly connect. \nQuestions on this stakeholder process may be directed to Kira Lawrence at kira.lawrence@bpu.nj.gov. \nFor more information\, please click here to view the public notice.

SUMMARY:Building Your Broader Impact Around Climate Change & Energy Research
DESCRIPTION:Click here for the flyer. \nWe are pleased to invite you to participate in a unique workshop sponsored by Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute and an NSF funded project called ARIS – Center for Advancing Research Impacts in Society. The workshop will be held on March 21st at the Cook Student Center from 9:30 am – 2 pm.   \n  \nThis workshop is all about developing a research impact mindset for Rutgers faculty and research staff.  Although NSF’s Broader Impacts are not new\, there is a renewed interest in figuring out how research can benefit society.  Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute has partnered with ARIS to develop an engaging and informative program. \nWe plan to engage in lively discussion and hands-on practice to not only explore the nuts and bolts of building a better and more competitive Broader Impact statement for your next NSF proposal but perhaps even more importantly\, think about what we can do to make the world a bit better with the wealth of resources and knowledge base of the Climate and Energy Institute’s amazing members. \nThe best part will be that we have assembled a wealth of partner resources from within Rutgers to collaborate with our faculty.  Representatives from the Mathematics Science Learning Center\, Vorhees Transportation Center\, Center for Mathematics\, Computer science Education\, Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4-H program\, Command Control and Interoperability Center for Advanced Data Analytics (CCICADA)\, and the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development will be in attendance just to name a few\, as potential BI partners in your next NSF proposal. \nRegistration link and more information can be found on the attached flyer. We are asking folks to register by March 17th.   \nWe hope you will join us and bring your early career colleagues. Questions?  Contact Janice McDonnell (mcdonnel@marine.rutgers.edu) or Marjorie Kaplan (mbk65@envsci.rutgers.edu).
