DESCRIPTION:WIND INSTITUTE TECHNICAL BOOTCAMP @ NJIT\nAgile Strategy Lab\, 9 – 10 December 2024 \nOffshore Wind Bootcamp Training co-organized by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBootcamp Objective: \nThis 2-day offshore wind training bootcamp is for students and professionals with engineering or physical science backgrounds who are interested in starting or upskilling their career in the offshore wind industry. Through intensive training\, the bootcamp aims to cover the technical aspects of offshore wind farm development\, including environmental impact assessments\, energy generation\, transmission\, grid integration\, energy storage systems\, and more! This bootcamp training will issue a certificate of completion from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the opportunity to claim 14 Professional Development Hours (PDH) after successful completion of the online examination (multiple-choice questions) at the end of the bootcamp. \nTarget Audience: \nThere are no formal prerequisite courses\, but participants are encouraged to have a foundational understanding of engineering or physical sciences\, preferably at a college or advanced-placement level. The bootcamp aims to provide a short-term\, rigorous\, fast-paced\, and focused fundamental training to help practicing engineers\, researchers\, and graduates to be well-prepared for the new field of offshore wind energy. \nBootcamp Overview: \nDay 1: \n\nOpening Keynote from NJ Economic Development Authority\nCourse 1: Offshore Wind Farm Overview\nCourse 2: Generation\nCourse 3: Offshore Transmission\nCourse 4: Onshore Transmission and Construction\n\nDay 2: \n\nOpening Keynote from NJ Board of Public Utilities\nPresentation on the Participation of Minority and Underrepresented Engineers in Wind Energy\nCourse 5: Community and Environmental Management\nCourse 6: Offshore Wind Farm Project Management\nCourse 7: Energy Storage System for Renewable\nCourse 8: Grid Interconnection and Integration\nTake-Home Online Examination (Multiple-Choice Questions)\n\nTo learn more and to register\, visit https://wind.njit.edu/bootcamp

SUMMARY:AGU Fall Meeting - Wind Energy Session
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDecember 9-13\, 2024 in Washington\, D.C.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSession Detail: https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/prelim.cgi/Session/230053\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nThe deadline for all submissions is July 31\, 2024 at 23:59 EDT.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nA013 – Observational and Modeling Studies for Improved Wind Energy Characterization & Forecasting\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nAbstract: Installations of offshore and land-based wind farms are projected to increase in the coming years as the economy transitions towards renewable energy. Accurately forecasting rotor-region winds is crucial for this transition. Despite significant progress\, models struggle to accurately simulate rotor-region winds due to various reasons. These factors include surface characterization (including wind-wave-ocean coupling or soil moisture)\, atmospheric boundary-layer turbulence\, changing stability conditions\, clouds\, precipitation\, extreme weather\, and wind turbine wake effects. This session will focus on characterizing and reducing uncertainties in rotor-region wind forecasts through observations\, model simulations and AI-based techniques. We especially welcome observational studies stemming from targeted large field campaigns (e.g. WFIP3\, AWAKEN\, X-WAKES\, WIPAFF etc.) or smaller experiments. Modeling studies focused on improving the understanding of processes modulating rotor-region winds\, or improving wind farm parameterizations for weather models are also welcome.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nConveners: Arka Mitra\, Anthony Kirincich\, David D Turner\, Julie K Lundquist\, Ulrike Egerer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Floating Wind Solutions Conference and Exhibition 2025
DESCRIPTION:FWS ’25 will be held on January 15-17\, 2025 at the Marriott Marquis Houston. \nRegistration is now open\, as is the call for abstracts. The deadline for abstract submission is August 1\, 2024. \nFloating Wind Solutions\, held annually in Houston\, is the ultimate opportunity for those who are presently involved in or seeking entry into floating wind. FWS facilitates network opportunities with the right experienced people while gaining knowledge of the technical solutions available and supply chain innovations on demand. Floating Wind Solutions’ mission is to utilize this platform to bring together the many critical players within the wind and offshore industries enabling accelerated adoption of Floating Wind Energy globally. This premier event’s primary goal is to accelerate the Energy Transition\, by focusing on the industrialization and commercialization of Floating Wind Energy. A world class Advisory Board ensures that the program maintains its sharp focus on the principles of the mission. \nExceptional growth in the harvesting of Floating Wind Energy will be reliant upon the technology and experience of companies historically focused on the offshore Supply Chain. With few exceptions\, these companies are the only ones who have ever designed\, constructed or installed permanently moored structures of any kind. In addition\, traditional Major Offshore Energy Operators are leading investors\, developers and operators of Floating Wind Energy Projects. \nClick here for more information and to register.
